IMPORTANT

If you are comparing BSAC Ocean Diver with other beginner level (Open Water) courses offered by other training agencies, remember:

BSAC Ocean Diver includes training in / as:

* Skin / Snorkel Diver

* Rescue

* Navigation

* Dive leading

* Air calculations

* Dive planning

* Theory of Shore, NITROX, Small Boat, Large Boat, Night, Reef, Wreck diving (practical training for some of these is done after the course when demanded - consisting of necessary extended briefings and guidance by an Instructor, but at no extra training cost - all this is normal diving for BSAC)

WHY "Put Another Dollar In" to do these as Speciality courses as required with other agencies?

Do other beginners courses include so much?

If you are keen and interested, once you have completed the first two or more dives of this course you can go for fun dives (limited to the depth you have already encountered) with an Instructor or Dive Leader, including night dives, wreck dives, boat dives etc (dives which are usually offered as speciality courses with other agencies at Advanced Open Water level.

All BSAC Theory lessons are delivered as Formal Instruction (in a classroom) by BSAC Nationally Qualified Instructors (NQIs). Lessons take as long as necessary to cover the material at your speed. None of the "go and read your manual" or "watch this video" as in other agencies, when its too easy to skimp. We make sure you understand the course subject matter fully - with retention tests, being available to answer questions at any time throughout (and after) the course, and a final assessment. BSAC Theory training may take longer, but its a tried and proven method, and is certainly cost effective. Pool or sheltered water lessons also ensure you are fully competent at each skill before moving on. You will not progress from Phase 1 training (theory and pool) unless the Instructor considers you are fully competent and most importantly that you are fully confident on all skills.

Unlike other agencies who offer Open Water courses to kids as young as 8!! (do they understand what they are doing?), the minimum age with BSAC is 12. If 12 year olds can pass the course, then it cant be too difficult or "hard", can it?. The BSAC provides exactly the same course for kids as is done by adults - no "Junior" qualifications needing to be upgraded later to "Adult" qualifications.

When you qualify as a BSAC Ocean Diver, you will be much more competent and confident, and have more skills, than divers trained to the "beginner" level by other training agencies. - Why BSAC Qualifications are recognised as probably the best in the world of recreational diving. We have many qualified divers crossing over with qualifications issued by other agencies (notice I dont say from other agencies - as they arnt members of that agency), they never look back, and will tell you which is the best training by far......
