LEARN TO DIVE WITH MARINE DIVERS
STEP 1: DECIDE WHICH QUALIFICATION YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE
Check course availability on our website.
The most popular course packages are for individual flexible training courses, but there are other options - see the options for training.
STEP 2: MEETING WITH MARINE DIVERS
Arrange a meeting with us at The United Services Recreation Club (USRC), 1 Gascoigne Road, Kings Park, Kowloon (just a few minutes from Jordan MTR station). Membership meetings are held on Tuesday Club Afternoons / Nights from 1600 onwards, or Saturday Club Afternoons from 1400 onwards - by appointment only.
The USRC is an Oasis in the middle of the concrete desert of Kowloon. It offers superb facilities for Marine Divers to train its members.
The meeting allows us to:
a) check your suitability for training - a swimming test 50m for snorkel courses, 200m for SCUBA courses.
b) explain to you your options for training and decide the most suitable program for you.
The meeting allows you to:
a) ask us any questions about our training courses
b) satisfy yourself that you will receive training safely, by highly qualified instructors
Should you decide to sign up for a course with Marine Divers, you need to join The British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) and our BSAC Branch (MDSAC). This enables us to give you more value for money as we aim to train you to be as good as possible in order to join our Dive Team.
Admin includes completion of membership and medical declaration forms.
Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent to sign forms.
You need to pay in advance before you start your course - please bring your cheque book.
STEP 3. ATTEND THE COURSE
Our Instructors are here to get you ready for the assessments using the thorough and highly respected BSAC training system, while ensuring you are having FUN safely.
STEP 4: ACHIEVE THE QUALIFICATION YOU WANT
Only through your own efforts will you achieve a BSAC Qualification - recognised as the highest in recreational diver training.
Some would say our training is "hard"!, its not difficult, 6 year olds can pass snorkel training, 12 year olds can pass SCUBA courses.
Though you may have finished a training course, the BSAC Qualification is not automatic. The Chief Instructor / Diving Officer must be satisfied that you are competent and confident enough to qualify. He will award you the prestigious title of BSAC Diver if you deserve it.
STEP 5: ATTEND A PRESENTATION CEREMONY
Get the respect of your peers when you receive your award as a BSAC Diver.
Just the first step in a livetime of fun as a diver.
Not only will you receive a wall Certificate, but also a diver badge for your swimsuit.
Your Qualification Record Book will also show your diver grade for when you go overseas on dive holidays, proving you have been trained to a high level.
STEP 6: GO DIVING AS A QUALIFIED DIVER
Marine divers offers plenty of opportunities to gain experience on Branch local dive trips and overseas expeditions - see Diving with Marine Divers and the Calendar for what we have planned for the future, and the photo section for what we have done in the past.
STEP 7: CONTINUATION TRAINING
The BSAC recommends a system of continuous training to retain existing and develop new skills.
Marine Divers can facilitate upgrading courses and many other courses to develop your skills.
