JUNK TRIPS 2008

Milkspotted Puffer - Hong Kong

Junk trips provide opportunities for Snorkeling and SCUBA activities by visiting sheltered beaches, usually with coral gardens.

Opportunity for families to come out together - room for passengers. Shower and toilets, hot water, plenty of space.

Qualified divers only - minimum Ocean Diver or Ocean Snorkel Diver. Those less qualified can attend as passengers.

Less number of dives on these trips due to traveling distances before and after diving to more remote locations than our normal Sampan trips which are predominantly for training dives.

Small boat as safety boat and ferry to beach, or viewing coral and marine life from the surface with fish viewer.

Opportunity often for a beach picnic or BBQ. Sun bathing on the beach or top decks. Larger groups for more fun.

Destinations are provisional as weather and tides can change things at last minute.

Returning to the same spots permits comparison of conditions and promotes familiarity with dive sites.

Junk trips are also used as the dive platform for Dive Marshalling assessments for trainee Dive Leaders, so many divers needed for the exercises.

Depart 0900, return 1800 (or later by arrangement)

Most important to book early so the boats can be booked.
